Application of J1939 to J1708 cable in future vehicles
With the development of intelligent and networked vehicles, the iteration speed of communication protocols has accelerated. The J1939 to J1708 cable, as a protocol compatible structure, provides unlimited possibilities for the upgrading and expansion of future vehicles.

Taking a certain autonomous driving test fleet as an example, the test vehicles include both old models using J1708 protocol and new models using J1939 protocol. When the fleet needs to test the collaborative autonomous driving capabilities of different protocol vehicle models, the J1939 to J1708 cable can be connected to the communication interface of new and old vehicle models to achieve data interoperability. For example, parameters such as steering angle and brake pressure of old car models can be converted into J1939 format through cables and integrated with the laser radar and camera data of new car models, providing more comprehensive inputs for autonomous driving algorithms and accelerating technological iteration.
In the future, with the application of new technologies, vehicle communication protocols will become more complex and diverse. The design concept of J1939 to J1708 cable (such as modularity and scalability) can be extended to more protocol conversion scenarios. By replacing the protocol conversion chip or upgrading the firmware, it can support compatibility between new and old protocols, providing a solid foundation for the continuous evolution of vehicle communication technology.
