How to delay the aging of J1939 cables?

During long-term use, J1939 cables may experience issues such as aging of the sheath, oxidation of the conductor, and damage to the shielding layer, leading to decreased cable performance and shortened service life. Many users are unaware of the causes of cable aging and are unable to effectively delay it, resulting in increased maintenance costs. In fact, the aging of J1939 cables is mainly caused by three aspects: environmental factors, usage factors, and product quality. Targeted measures can effectively delay aging.

Environmental factors are the main cause of cable aging. High temperatures, oil stains, humidity, and ultraviolet radiation in the vehicle environment can accelerate the aging and cracking of the sheath material, leading to conductor oxidation and damage to the shielding layer; In terms of usage factors, prolonged pulling, bending, and compression of cables can damage their internal structure and accelerate aging; In terms of product quality, the use of non-standard cables, insufficient purity of conductors, and poor quality of sheath materials can also lead to premature aging of the cables.

The core measure to delay cable aging is to select high-quality cables that comply with SAE J1939 standards to ensure product quality from the source; Standardize installation and wiring, avoid cable pulling, bending, and squeezing, and stay away from high temperature, oil stains, and humid areas; Perform daily maintenance, regularly clean the surface of cables, check the condition of cables, and promptly repair damaged parts; Avoid long-term exposure of cables to ultraviolet radiation, and take necessary protective measures to extend the service life of cables.
