Fault diagnosis and maintenance of J1939 cable
The reliability of J1939 cable directly affects the safety of vehicle operation, and common faults include:
Physical layer failure: Communication interruption caused by cable damage and connector oxidation. For example, an excavator at a certain construction site experienced a short circuit due to the damage of the CAN line outer sheath and the intrusion of water vapor, resulting in a black screen on the instrument panel.
Data link layer failure: Bus conflict, arbitration failure causing data loss. By using an oscilloscope to detect signal waveforms, pulse anomalies or voltage offsets can be identified.
Application layer failure: Data parsing failed due to incorrect PGN/SPN definition. For example, a certain brand of bus caused a false alarm of the engine malfunction light due to conflicting SPN numbers.
Maintenance suggestion: Regularly check the appearance of cables and use a 500V megohmmeter to test insulation resistance; Configure redundant communication channels for key equipment (such as engine ECU) to enhance system fault tolerance.
