The Collaborative Work of J1939 Cable and CAN Bus

J1939 cable is built based on CAN bus technology, which works in conjunction with CAN bus to achieve efficient communication of complex networks within commercial vehicles.

The CAN bus has advantages such as non-destructive arbitration mechanism, support for multi master architecture, and strong electromagnetic compatibility, making it suitable for real-time communication needs in harsh environments. The J1939 protocol builds a complete communication architecture based on the CAN 2.0B protocol, covering multi-level specifications from the physical layer to the application layer.


The J1939 cable utilizes the hardware capabilities of the CAN bus and achieves efficient collaboration among multiple nodes in complex vehicular networks by introducing 29 bit extension identifiers, layered protocol stacks, and priority scheduling mechanisms. For example, during vehicle operation, ECUs such as the engine, gearbox, and braking system exchange real-time status information and control commands through J1939 cables and CAN bus to ensure the safe and stable operation of the vehicle.


At the same time, the J1939 protocol also defines network management functions such as address allocation, error handling, and message priority control, further improving the reliability and stability of communication.
